Costinești is compact, but it is also the perfect base for exploring the wider Black Sea coast. Here are the best day trips within easy reach.
Constanța Old Town (45 minutes by car)
Romania’s oldest continuously inhabited city. Visit the Roman mosaic, the Great Mahmudiye Mosque, and the Constanta Casino — an Art Nouveau landmark on the pier. The old town is walkable and full of cafes.
Mangalia and the Callatis Fortress (1 hour)
Further south, Mangalia offers thermal springs, a Byzantine fortress, and quieter beaches. The waters are calmer and the crowd is older. A good contrast to Costinești’s festival energy.
Vama Veche (1 hour 15 minutes)
The bohemian beach village at Romania’s southern tip. Known for its all-night beach parties, acoustic guitars, and free camping culture. Vama is what Costinești was 20 years ago.
Getting there
Costinești train station is a seven-minute walk from Luna Marina, with direct connections to Constanța. For Mangalia and Vama Veche, a car or bus is easier.
